Sarah Mead's Midterm Exam

IP vs. Domain Name

IP stands for internet protocol. The IP address is a unique number, like a phone number. Since IP address are like phone numbers, DNS is like a phone book. IP adresses are in the form of XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (the X's are each a number). Top level domains are .info, .us, and .tv, and other domains are .com, .org, .net, .edu, and .gov. An example of a domain is www.cnn.com.
