Specialized Reporting:

Environmental Story

Write a 3-5 page, in-depth news or news feature story based on your interviews, research, observations and other reporting. Your story must be focused on the environmental beat related to the class reporting project. You may use a creative or news lead.

 

- Your story will be evaluated based on the newsworthiness of your story idea .

 

- Your story will be evaluated based on the reporting and interviewing completed for this project. Your story should include interviews with multiple sources. Your story should include interviews with at least four or more individuals related to your topic. You should have conducted an intervew with at least one expert.

 

- Your story will be evaluated based on your background research on the topic you selected and the sources you interviewed.

 

- Your story will be evaluated based on the proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation and AP Style. One point will be deducted for each one of these errors, so proofread carefully.

 

In addtion to turning in your story, you will need to turn in the following 1.) source list with the name and contact information for all sources interviewed (organizational affliation, email address or phone number) and 2.) organized compilation of your research and interview notes.

 

After your turn in your story, please turn in 1) signed release forms from each source and 2) completed accuracy check form for each source. You may print out an e-mail indicating your source's release and consent to publish and/or accuracy check. These need to be turned in before a grade can be given for this assignment.

 

In addtion to your individual story, you should turn in the multimedia for your group reporting team. Turn in a signed release form for each source featured in your multimedia.
