Samples of My Work

Faith, This is the start of one of the stories I used as part of my MFA creative project.

A poem entitled Fatherly Love about the birth of my daughter and my relationship with my Father, and a prose poem entitled Pilgrim.

Current Projects

I am currently working on revising several short stories and submitting them for publication.

In addition, I am working on four scholarly essays. Three focus on scholarship involving Harry Potter. The first is a conference paper entitled “Disillusionment: The Political Fabric of Harry Potter”. The second is also a conference paper “The Dark Lord and The Prince: Machiavellian Elements in Harry Potter”. Both of these were presented at Terminus: A national Harry Potter Symposium. The other is entitled “Judicial Independence?: Justice and Political Interference in Harry Potter and beyond” and will be presented at the annual Modern Language Association conference in San Francisco. I am also working on a fourth conference paper entitled “Daddy Goes to School: The New Reality and Needs of Graduate Education and Students” that will be presented at MLA as well.

Finally, I am working on a revision of an essay that examines the use of Cowboy and Western iconography by politicians, in particular George W. Bush

In terms of creative writing, I am working on a memoir entitled Loss: A Father’s Story, and am researching Industrial League Baseball and trying to gather enough information, artifacts, and interviews of those involved to potential write a book. Industrial League Baseball were leagues and teams sponsored by local companies in an area to provide entertainment, boost company moral, and improve physical fitness. Most companies and areas had them. They lasted from the late 1800s to the 1950s, when they seemed to have died out. Many were very competitive and had a few future Hall of Famers play for them.
