Career Objective:

Currently I am majoring in Marketing with a minor in Business. In the future, I plan to work at a university as a career counselor, or university relations. Eventually I would like to continue my education and become a Dean or President of a university. I think the most important decision a person can make is choosing a career path; this is why I had such a hard time making my decision. I was worried that I might make the wrong decision. Therefore, I wound up trying out three other majors before making my final decision. For this reason, I have decided that I want to help others make the most important decision of their life. I would like to start with freshman and help them get on the right path.

Many freshmen feel lost and frustrated with the transition and the pressure to decide on a major. Many high schools do not have a useful program to help students decide on what career to pursue. This is why I would also like to work with high schools to implement a successful program to help students find direction on which path to follow. The majority of the people I know did not decide on a major until the beginning of their junior year. I also know a few people that never decided and dropped out of college because they got discouraged and found themselves wasting their time and money. Watching people I know that have so much potential, but waste it by giving up because they got too frustrated really made me think about how many people there are out there that just need to be guided in the right direction. This is why I believe that with my experience, personality, and devotion I believe I would be a great career counselor.

I have had several years of experience in university relations. I worked as a student ambassador for a year and a half, giving students and their parent’s tours of campus, participating on student panels, and answering the questions they need to help them make the right college decision. My academic preparation and my related job experience have given me the confidence to perform as a dependable, hardworking, highly organized employee. I have complete confidence that through my determination, I can obtain my goal and be an asset to your company.
