Saugatuck Mighigan was founded by a man name William Butler. There were a bunch of tribes of indians inhabiting the land at the time. The land has a river that runs right through it. The Kalamazoo River that leads out to Lake Michigan. William Butler started a Hotel called the Hotel Butler that would eventually turn into the resturant that I work at today. The Town is located right on Lake Michigan with a harbor and many little shops. These shops pose for a massive tourist attack in the summer time. The population literally doubles. Saugatuck is actually in coexistance with another town called Douglas. They share the same school system and consider themselves pretty much the same town. All that seperates them is the river. That's why there are such things as the chain ferry and the bridges. There are two main beaches, state parks, fishing, boating, shopping, painting, and much more. It is a very beautiful town like I said and it attracts a lot of artists due to the scenerary.
