Computers are still an important part of its mix, but these days music-related products are at the top of Apple's playlist. Apple Computer's desktop and laptop computers -- all of which feature its OS X operating system -- include its Mac mini, iMac, and MacBook for the consumer and education markets, and more powerful Power Mac and MacBook Pro for high-end consumers and professionals involved in design and publishing. The company scored a runaway hit with its digital music players (iPod) and online music store (iTunes). Polo Ralph Lauren is galloping at a faster clip than when founder Ralph Lauren first entered the arena. With golden mallet brands such as Polo, Lauren, Chaps, and Club Monaco, the firm designs and markets apparel, accessories, fragrances, and home furnishings. Polo prefers licensing over manufacturing. It oversees many licensees, as well as more than 350 contract manufacturers worldwide. It operates about 275 retail and outlet stores in the US and licenses more than 100 others worldwide. Founder Ralph Lauren controls almost 90% of Polo's voting power. The company bought Ralph Lauren Footwear Co. -- a unit of Reebok International and its global footwear licensee -- for about $110 million.
