DIVERSITY
Accroding to Webster's: "state of being diverse; difference, unlikeness; variety"
According to the National Council for Accreditation of teacher Education: "Differences among groups of people and individuals based on ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender, exceptionalities, language, religion, sexual orientation, and geographical."
As a mother of two boys, Jaylin 13 and Joshua 5, and a few neices and nephews, I have a great deal of experience will all types of children. I am the youth choir director at my church and love to help out with the children's sunday school classes when needed. I have been involved in the school systems ever since my oldest has started school in 1997. I am active in the classrooms when I have spare time and always make time for each of the boys field trips and special occassions at school. My youngest son has attended Lewis Cass Intermediate School (LCISD) for the past 2 1/2 years. This has given me a chance to interact with children that have special needs. Although Joshua will be in Frank Squires Elementary school next year as a Kindergartener in regular education classes, I would like to stay active in the LCISD. I hope to be a substitute teacher next year in some of the local ISD's, such as Cass and Berrien Counties. In my spare time I love to scrapbook, so I am always trying to take pictures. I carry a camera with me at all times so I never miss an opportunity. I hope to use this creativeness in my classroom and integrate it into some class activivties, so look for really inventive things coming home from your students.
I have included a look at my class introduction movie to introduce you to my classroom, please feel free to look at it and come to me with any questions or concerns.
