Athletic trainers are health care professionals who work with physicians and other health care professionals. Athletic trainers provided important services on and off the field such as emergency care, therapeutic intervention and rehab of injuries. If you want to become certified athletic trainer you must get a degree from an accredited university or college.

About the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA)

NATA is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and other health care professional. It was founded in 1950 and now has 35,000 members worldwide. The NATA is very helpful at different steps in your athlete training career from being student just starting out all the way through finding a job after you complete you get your certification.

Why I wanted to be an Athlete Trainer

I wanted to become an athlete trainer because I love to help people get back to what they love doing and being a trainer is one way to do that. By being an athlete trainer you get to work different kinds of people from many different backgrounds and I love to meet new people. Not only do you get to work with young people maybe just starting in a sport you may also get to work with professional athletes who have been doing what they love for years. After working as athletic trainer for a while, I may go back to school and become a doctor.

Athlete Trainer Through out History

The first athlete trainer were recognized at the Olympic games in 20th century. Athlete trainer are more widely recognized in the United States. The athlete training text was written in 1917 and called the The Trainer's Bible by S.E. Bilik. The NATA was established in 1959 and helped athlete training program grow at college and universities. There are more then 100 accredited programs in the United States.
