Part B2

Making websites that are user friendly for every level of technical comprehension is a difficult task.  However, these particular websites were successfully designed to do so.  They are a good representation on how E-commerce transactions should function to be able to bring online business to every person accessible to the internet.  Amazon is a perfect example.  The website is easily navigable, with a list of contents and plenty of pictures to symbolize different areas of interest.  Once a product is found, it can be placed in an electronic shopping cart which gives the customer more time to look around without making any rushed purchases.  There are order acknowledgements and notifications once the transaction has been completed to reassure the shopper that everything went through.

Overstock.com shares a lot of similarities with Amazon.com; the ease of use is certainly one of them.  Overstock.com has a list of contents, pictures, an e-cart, and other traits that help customers feel more comfortable and knowledgeable in the overall outcome of their purchases.

Shopping-bargains.com is the last site to be compared.  Even though it did have a resemblance to the other websites, it was a little more difficult to navigate through.  This website had basically all of the other qualities the other websites had, except it was more tedious to finalize a purchase.  Shopping-bargains.com shows customers many coupons to different businesses.  The customer than goes to the different businesses’ websites to actually buy the product, therefore a buyer has to go through two different website companies to purchase one product, which can lead to more confusion.

All three websites offer a surplus amount of merchandise.  Amazon.com is a known website that specializes in almost anything that can be sold, whether new or used.  Overstock.com is not very different either.  Shopping-bargains.com doesn’t really sell anything; instead they have access to a lot of other companies’ coupons to attract people to their website.  When a shopper chooses one of these coupons, they are then relocated to that store’s official website for the final purchase.

Amazon.com has the best privacy policy any of the websites have to offer.  Their privacy policy contains a lot of legal documentations and information.  Along with that, they offer customer reviews that help solace any of the shopper's doubts.  To add on top of this, Amazon.com offers many government based websites that give credibility and reassurance of the security Amazon.com offers.

Overstock.com is very thorough with describing their privacy policy.  Their information covers a lot of different aspects of online business, along with the process and security of their site.  Except for the site’s own personal contacts, there are no reference sites that help establish the secured feeling Amazon.com offers.

Shopping-bargains.com has the worst privacy policy out of all three.  The information is very limited and can be summed up in a page and a half.  The policy itself is vaguely written, and doesn’t hold much support for the website’s overall security.  However, since nothing is really being bought from this specific company, they may not need a secured and professional looking privacy policy.  They aren’t liable for other companies’ faults.

Customer service is a big feat to overcome when dealing with e-commerce trading.  There are no personal connections or any communication in dealing with buyer’s problems.  The fastest mode of getting answers to questions is through email, which doesn’t work well when the customer doesn’t have at least a day to wait.  Amazon.com tackles this problem the best way.  Amazon has a complete department dedicated to helping online shoppers.  The department offers many different walkthroughs and guides to help with the most common of problems.  The tutorials walk each user through step by step instructions, till they are satisfied.  If a problem is still unresolved, there are always many contacts to get on a more personal level.

Overstock.com is very detailed as well as Amazon when it comes to customer service.  They provide similar troubleshooting tutorials to the user if problems arise.  Their information is the most descriptive and basic out of all three websites.  Also, they created a search engine just for Help related topics, to simplify solving troubles any person may experience.

The last website, Shopping-bargain.com, gives a general style of information about experiencing problems.  Not a lot of details are given, which makes it a very ambiguous on any steps needed to be taken to help the situation.  Contacts are given for a reference of help, but they are the only real help that is offered.

Amazon.com is the epitome of online business.  All a person needs to do is to register and then they are open for any business transactions.  Amazon set the bar for what e-commerce business should represent.

Overstock.com mirrors Amazon’s business.  Nothing is really exclusive about the company except for the TV ads that are shown.  It’s just another online store which survived after the falling of many other .com businesses.

Shopping-bargains.com has a unique approach to the e-commerce world.  They don’t sell merchandise; they just have the coupons for it.  Nobody has to register or sign up for anything when they use this website, which opens up more opportunity for people not wanting to register.  There’s a specific page on the website the claims “exclusive bargains”.  However, there seems to be nothing exclusive about the goods.

Overall, Amazon.com continues to reign on the other businesses for its familiarity and public view.  This website can back up these claims as well, with a resulted outcome of all fives, it proves to be the most customer oriented website out there. Hence, it should be around for another good period of time.

Overstock.com seemed to follow the crowd and has stayed through the ups and downs of online business by the single fact of advertising.  The website seems to be a generic .com business with all the regular attributes; giving it no further edge, but just enough to stay in the race. Overstock.com doesn’t seem to have much staying power on its side, unless something shapes up.

Shopping-bargains.com seems the less likely hopeful in the long run.  If the coupons were only offered at that particular website, it could be different.  Plus, this website looks professional at first, but once the privacy policy and customer service were acknowledged, the true time and effort spent on this website is revealed.  All of these factors generate a conclusion that this business doesn’t seem to have much of a future.
