“It takes a lot of legwork, but it’s worth it when you find that one little known artist whose work is amazing,” said Wes Dwyer.

For example, the Dwyers have been working on designing an exhibit of black-and-white photographs by Bill Davis of Newport, Ky. who studied his craft in the Czech Republic and uses printmaking materials from there that can’t be found in the United States. taken in by Davis’ powerful images, the Dwyers are working with the artist to create and exhibit that frames Davis’ photographs with narratives written by him to explain the stories behind the inspiration for the images.
All that is above and beyond the normal call of duty, but the Dwyers feel Davis is the best print-maker they’ve seen in a long time and want to give him the recognition he deserves because Davis’ work lives up to the motto painted upon Art & Soul’s wall: “Life is sometimes burdensome, and can crush the soul. Art reminds us that we have one.”

That and because when they first saw Davis’ work was framed in simple white mats. For more information about Art & Soul, call 317-913-1254.
