ObamaCare has been a hot button topic ever since it was introduced on March 23rd, 2010. For me personally I have never been really engaged with politics and I have never really closely followed as much as I should. I have heard my parents, TV personalities, just about everyone bicker about Obamacare and whether it is right or wrong. I have been listening from afar and now I think it may be time to listen a little closer because I do believe this will affect me in my coming adult years. Fox News recently came out with an article titled: How Much will ObamaCare cost you in Taxes. As I read through the article I came across various very interesting statistics. According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, there will be at least 20 ObamaCare related taxes totalling $409 billion over the next ten years. Among the new taxes are: A Medicare Tax Increase of .9 percent for individuals earning over $200,000 or married couples earning $250,000, A net investment income tax of 3.8 percent tax on individuals, estates, and trusts worth more $200,000 or $250,000 for joint filers. And an increase in the threshold for itemized deductions for medical expenses from 7.5 percent  to 10 percent of gross income. The Fox News Tax Payer calculator breaks down the tax burden over the next 10 years by income level. If you make under $15,000:  it's just over $59.00. If you make between $50,000 and $100,000, it's $6,069.90. And if you make between $200,000 and $250,000, it's $38,200.66. Cato Institute Senior Fellow Michael Tanner said it best saying "ObamaCare is a wealth-transfer program with health insurance attached." Now I can't tell you what income level I am going to be at in the coming years but I hope it is at a reasonable level, and one way or another ObamaCare is going to have an effect on me in the long run. I know it is having an effect on my parents and by finally looking into it to see what all of the fuss is about I realize how toxic it is now and how toxic it will be in the future. Something needs to be done to fic it, and hopefully it will.
