Vertex
Description                                                                                                       .

L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace services the government. No tabloid fodder here, however: The company, previously known as Vertex Aerospace (and before that, Raytheon Aerospace), derives about 95% of sales from its aerospace and technical services -- logistics support, maintenance, repair and overhaul, supply chain management, and pilot training -- for the US government. Its monied client list includes the armed forces, the Customs Service, the DEA, and NASA. Among the products supported are training aircraft (T-6A Texan II), attack helicopters (AH-64 Apache), stealth bombers (B-2), missile systems (Patriot), and tanks (M1 Abrams). L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace is a subsidiary of L-3 Communications.

Vertex Aerospace withdrew its plans to go public as the aerospace market remained unfavorable in 2002-2003. Late in 2003 the company was acquired by L-3 Communications and Vertex became L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace (also known as L-3 Vertex).
