History of the WMU Solar Garden

Initial Funding

The WMU educational solar garden was founded by two grants from Consumers Energy as part of the WMU-Consumers Energy Solar Garden Installation. The educational solar garden goals are to provide an accessible solar installation that can be used for education and research and to provide seminars and educational opportunities to a full range of community groups.

Why WMU?

One of the main ideals here at WMU is sustainability. The Solar Learning Module is an educational program that will teach K-12 students about solar energy. Another aspect of the Solar Learning Module is to provide training to first responders on how to properly handle solar arrays in any given siutation. The introduction of the educational solar garden furthers WMU's image as a sustainable university.
